Tudor Farmhouse Restoration
A project involving comprehensive restoration and extension of a derelict, 6 Bedroom, Grade II Listed Tudor farmhouse, unoccupied since the 1940’s. Requiring a highly detailed measured survey and a rigorous assessment of condition of the existing structure and internal dilapidations, including specialist, non-destructive testing of structural oak timbers.
The design catered for the conservation and restoration of many of the building’s special period elements, including special structural repairs to the internal oak frame and beams, period windows and door joinery, new and repaired wattle & daub and an exceptional example of a coffered Tudor ceiling. Drawings and specifications were used to detail the use of traditional conservation materials and techniques throughout.

DDA is particularly well placed to deal with the delights and the difficulties brought about through a love and respect for period buildings. Evaluating a building’s history, its character and spirit, evokes a passion and care fundamental to our achieving a sensitive and meaningful assessment of the issues that really matter.
We have the experience to assess building issues borne from the past, to address those of the present and to manage restoration, conservation and change, as appropriate, for a lasting future.
Custody and care of heritage buildings means never undervaluing all their contributing elements that help devise sympathetic and rewarding solutions to meet modern needs, with integrity and in imaginative ways.
